Explore the Magic of Silver Glass (ESMG), the flagship course on the enVision Virtual Workshop Portal is essentially THREE full classes in one – Reducing Intensive, Striking Demystified, and Dual/ Combination Explained. The materials were based on – and updated to keep current – the two-day in-person class Hayley taught throughout the United States and worldwide before the pandemic. In 2024, EMSG was converted to an on-demand, self-guided virtual workshop with 20+ lessons, 17 demo videos with captions and voice over, along with a comprehensive 29-page handout.

EMSG

Reducing Intensives concentrates on working with a variety of reducing silver glass. Students will explore the many facets of different flame chemistry, along with Hayley's own "paint brush" method, to bring out all the unexpected magenta and peacock green luster colors within one silver glass. Students will also learn how to best capture – and RETAIN – the pearlescent effects under encasement.

Striking Demystified concentrates on working with a variety of striking silver glass. In addition to learning the three-step striking process, students will explore different ways to encase striking silver glass.

Dual/Combination Explained concentrates on working with silver glass that both strikes and reduces and how best to capture the unique characteristics of these colorful and iridescent glass under encasedment.

Students have access to this workshop for two years.

Non-Reactive Glass

You may consider using Effetre Super Clear instead of Double Helix Zephyr for initial practice while being mindful that Super Clear is stiffer thus requiring more heat which isn't optimal for encasing silver glass.

If you don't have Opal Yellow, use White or any light opaque colors such as Silver Pink but stay away from Ivory for it's reactive with silver glass. We will cover using Ivory in future workshops.

Prerequisites

• advanced beginner skill level and comfortable working on a propane/oxygen mix torch
• a device (computer, tablet, phone) with high-speed internet
• a good knowledge in using reducing and dual/combination silver glass and comfortable with encasing medium-size beads (1" / 2.5cm and larger)
